Day two......

For anyone out there with a baby, this will resonate with you. We have a 16 month old boy who has not slept through the night since he was born. Seriously. He is up every night several times a night. Last night was a bad one. He woke up at 10 and stayed awake until midnight.
We have tried everything we can think of. We spoke to a sleep specialist, we have tried eliminating feedings, changing routines, maintaining routines, light, white noise, dark, no noise. You name it we have tried it. The sleep therapist said it could be that he is "hyper aware" and so is constantly aware of his environment. He will relax until I go to leave the room and then he starts to freak out. Cuddles don't help, nothing helps.
I found myself at midnight laying on the floor of his room beside his crib, he eventually followed suit and laid down to sleep. FML. It sucked.
Oh and day two of school for the kids. Thankfully they did not argue about having to go back for a second day which is always a good sign.
What do you do when you get only 4 sleep hours a night for a year and a half? You drink lots of coffee, lean on family and friends for support, and babysitting, and try not to think about it. Hoping for a better night tonight.....
