So Labor Day long weekend is over. I am relieved to have my house and my sanity back this morning. The kids tend to get sick of each other if they are stuck together for too long which means they end up driving me crazy in an effort to redirect their pent up energy. My coffee was well deserved and my couch was calling my butt back.
The difference between pre-covid and today is that I find myself more willing and content to do nothing and relax and I don't worry about it. I think I miss that. Knowing that there was no where to go and nothing to do because everything was closed, took the responsibility of having to go out and do things off the table. You weren't a lazy parent, you didn't have the choice but to stay home.
Now with extracurricular activities coming back, the daily grind means more than it has the past two years and it's overwhelming and exhausting. When we were in the pandemic we couldn't wait to get out. Now that we are out of it, I can't wait to get back in!
The obligations have piled up again and I can't help but miss the benefits of the shut-in life. Yes, it sucked at the time but coming back full throttle will take some adjustment. I hope I'm not the only one feeling the pressure.
